Every fly fisherman dreams of the day when he can land a lunker trout on a fly that was tied by his own hand. One of our guides stated: "when you land a trout on a fly you tied yourself, well, it's a real hoot!"

The Little Red Fly Shop has expert guide/instructors on staff to teach tiers of every skill level to tie the flies that are used in the Little Red River as well as other Arkansas tailwaters (a river below a dam is called a "tailwater").

The fee for our tying school is $100.00 for 10 -12 flies with a recommendation of four hours total instruction for proficiency in tying 3-4 key flies. We provide each student with a table, vise, lamp, tying materials and tools and an experienced instructor. When completed, the student will be comfortable with the "mysterious" whip finish and will be thrilled to land that first fish on a "hand-tied" fly.
